After talking to a number of mums about baby monitors there were two product that kept coming up. Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature Digital Sensor Mat Monitor and Angelcare
Most mums found these monitor's gave the ultimate peace of mind. A key feature of the monitors is its unique sensor pad, designed to sit under the baby’s cot mattress. It monitors and sounds an alarm if no movement has been detected after 20 seconds. Most parents benefit from the sensor pad when their baby is a newborn. However, once he/she can move freely around the cot, parents can choose to remove the sensor pad and use the monitor as a stand-alone model, with all its many benefits.
Its all well and good splashing out on a monitor with a camera but you could get lazy and just glance at it and assume everything is ok, when the baby could not be breathing. I love that these monitors flashes a green light with every heart beat. To me this sounds much better then straining your ears to listen for sounds with a standard monitor. I have done some shopping around and found the best buy for Tommee Tippee is from Amazon which you can see Ive added to my best buys shop. My brother in law recently paid £99 for it and here you can see it for £58 with free delivery. You can also find Angelcare with a discount from £99 to £74 with free delivery. You can of course splash out and get the mat, monitor and a camera with sound but you will be paying out. These two sound good for me without the camera.
